The historic mining boom of the 1890s led to the construction of a railway that connected Grand Forks to the rest of what is now know as Boundary Country.

The Copper Sky community overlooks the city of Grand Forks and is next to the Crowsnest highway and the Kettle River, located directly between the Okanagan Valley and the Kootenays, just beside the United States border.
